For the film Dangal, Aamir Khan and the rest of the star cast took the help of a dialect coach to learn Haryanvi.

Have you ever noticed how foreign origin actresses like Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi speak Hindi in films? A special coach is also hired to teach them language and dialect. These are called dialect coaches.

In the last several years, the role of dialect coach in films has increased. Language has a direct impact on the performance of an actor. Dialect coaching plays a vital role in improving the character of an actor. People still remember the Haryanvi accent of Kangana Ranaut and Aamir Khan in the films Tanu Weds Manu and Dangal.

In the new episode of Reel to Real, we talk about the role of dialect coach in films. For this, we talked to famous dialect coaches Vikas Kumar, Hetal Waria and Sunita Sharma.

He told that after learning the language, when John Abraham gave his first shot, he started crying. At the same time, while preparing for Dangal, Aamir Khan took a lot of time to learn the language compared to other actors.

What is the difference between pronunciation and dialect? Accents are the ways people say words and are just one part of a dialect. A person's dialect is also made up of his or her vocabulary, grammar and use of local slang.

There are no rules to teach language to actors Vikas said, 'There is no rule or formula to teach language to an actor. For example, English accent is seen in the speech of Jacqueline Fernandez and Katrina Kaif. In such a situation, efforts are made to ensure that both have less English accent and have complete command over the Hindi language.

Along with teaching language, we also work on dialogue delivery. John Abraham worked opposite Shahrukh Khan in the film Pathan. His Hindi is good, but his entire focus was on dialogue delivery. For this reason we worked on this also.

In the film Ishqiya, Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi's character was Bhopali. The director of the film wanted both of them to have Bhopali flavor in their speech. Then we did that too.

Vikas further also shared the experience of working with Jacqueline and Katrina. He said, 'I met both of them when they had learned Hindi well. Met Katrina during the film Tiger 3. The most special thing about Katrina and Jacqueline is that both of them ask for the script in Hindi (Devanagari) also, which brings more perfection.

Actors learn the language through writing and audio. Vikas told that during the workshops he tries to teach the language through writing and audio. For some projects, Vikas even records the entire script of the film in his own voice to teach the actors. With its help, actors can easily work on their language.

Vicky Kaushal and Huma Qureshi work quickly on language Hetal Waria also talked about the challenges faced while teaching dialect. He said that there is very less time available for teaching language as compared to other work. Every actor has a limit. Some actors learn quickly, while others take time.

Hetal further said, 'Like Vicky Kaushal in the film Sam Bahadur and Huma Qureshi in Tarla, both of them learned the language very quickly. Didn't have to work hard on either of them.

John started crying while speaking the dialogue Vikas has worked with John Abraham in the film Pathan. He said, 'Before Pathan, in the film Satyamev Jayate, I was his dialect coach. Before shooting, I had worked on his dialogue delivery using many techniques.

He had to recite a verse in the opening scene of the film. When he recited this verse during practice, his eyes became moist. John said that he had never spoken such a clear dialogue before. This is not just a case. This happens with many actors.

People look down on language teaching. Dialect coaches do not get much fees. Fees keep changing depending on the project. Higher fees are paid for big budget films. Not only this, people also consider this work as small. Apart from low fees, a dialect coach also gets very little time to teach actors. This also causes problems. Actors should be given at least 3 months time to have a good command over any language.

Vicky learned many languages for Sam Bahadur Hetal Waria has worked with Vicky in the film Sam Bahadur. He told that in real life Sam Bahadur knew many languages. For this reason Vicky also had to learn some language. Vicky started working on his dialect long before the shooting started.

Hetal said that she and Vicky had got a long time of 1-2 months. Because of this, Vicky had worked well on himself.

Aamir Khan took time to learn Haryanvi language There is also an incident related to the film Dangal. Sunita Sharma got the job of teaching Haryanvi dialect to the actors of this film.

Regarding this, Sunita said, 'I got this film because of Tanu Weds Manu. Everyone liked Kangana's Haryanvi tone in Tanu Weds Manu. After this the makers of Dangal approached me. The rest of the star cast of the film including Aamir sir was also very hardworking.

Interestingly, compared to other actors, Aamir sir took a little more time to learn the language. Although he followed my every guideline. He had also prepared the notes by writing them properly.

Kangana Ranaut's learning speed is good Sunita was Kangana Ranaut's dialect coach in the film Tanu Weds Manu. Regarding this he said, 'The experience of working with Kangana was very good. His learning speed is also very good. She understands things and also works.

Female actors grasp the language faster than male actors. Sunita further said, 'I believe that the learning speed of female actors is higher than that of male actors. I have taught Bhojpuri accent to Soha Ali Khan in the film Atrangi Re. She also learned very quickly.

The second part of the film Chhori is going to be released soon. Soha Ali Khan is in the lead role in this film. I have coached him. His learning speed is also very good.
