NEET 2024: Aggressive students lead to agitation

New Delhi : The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been embroiled in a huge controversy over the alleged cheating in the NEET exam for admission to medical courses and the awarding of grace marks to 1,563 students. Dissatisfaction among students and parents is increasing day by day due to the confusion of NEET exam. The 'SFI' organization protested in front of the Union Ministry of Education. Students questioned the education minister about the transparency of the NEET exam. ABVP protested outside the NTA headquarters. ABVP National Secretary Shivangi Kharwal has demanded a CBI inquiry into the leak. NSUI has staged a massive protest at Jantar Mantar on June 13 demanding cancellation of the entire examination.

The agitation has also flared up in Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi and other places of Uttar Pradesh. The demand to cancel the NEET exam and conduct a re-examination is gaining momentum. Students protested in front of the gate of Banaras Hindu University in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Varanasi constituency on June 11, demanding a high-level inquiry into the NEET paper leak. Student unions have also become aggressive in Ranchi in Jharkhand, Patna in Bihar and Kolkata in West Bengal. The All India Democratic Students' Organization (AIDSO) has staged a protest near the higher education headquarters in Kolkata on June 13. In Haryana's Sonepat, Rajasthan's Jaipur, Ajmer, students and parents have also taken to the streets.

67 students scored 720 out of 720 marks in NEET 2024 results. This number is much higher than every year. 1,563 students have been given unwarranted grace marks by NTA. There are allegations of paper leakage at some exam centers.
