Leaders Online: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has suffered another setback. Boxer and Congress leader Vijender Singh joined BJP today on Wednesday. Vijender Singh entered the party today at the BJP headquarters in Delhi in the presence of BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde. After joining BJP, boxer Vijender Singh said, “I have joined BJP today for the development of the country and to serve the people.”
Boxer Vijenderar posted a line on X. After that, many speculations were made before the Lok Sabha elections. 'I am ready wherever the people want.' He had said that.
Vijender Singh, who joined the Congress in 2019, had to face defeat in the very first election. However, he remained with the Congress. He then announced his retirement from politics in a social media post in December 2023. But now again he has returned to politics.
Vijender had contested from South Delhi in 2019 from Congress. But BJP's Ramesh Vidhudi defeated him. After that, Vijender's political activity decreased. He entered politics in 2023.
His name was in discussion for the past few days as the BJP candidate from Mathura. Actress and sitting MP Hema Malini is contesting re-election from here. Vijender Singh belongs to the Jat community, which has great influence in politics in Haryana.
