9 people including two doctors arrested for taking bribe in the name of treatment in Delhi, CBI action









New Delhi, Leading News Service: In Delhi, the CBI has busted a racket going on in the RML (Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital) hospital in a major operation. CBI has arrested a total of 9 people including 2 doctors of the hospital in this case. It is alleged that the accused were looting the patients in the name of treatment. Medical equipment suppliers are also believed to be among those arrested. CBI has raided 15 locations of doctors and dealers related to medical equipment. The CBI has named a total of 16 accused in the FIR.

According to the FIR, Assistant Professor Dr. Parvat Gowda of RML Hospital was arrested for taking bribe of nearly two and a half lakhs. He received this bribe through UPI. Apart from this, Rajnish Kumar, the senior technical incharge of the cath lab in the hospital, has also been arrested.

CBI Professor in Cardiology Department Dr. Five people including Ajay Raj, nurse Shalu Sharma, hospital clerk Bhuval Jaiswal and Sanjay Kumar Gupta have been arrested. Four of them work in different equipment supply companies. All of them have been arrested by the CBI under Prevention of Corruption and Criminal Conspiracy Section 120B.

According to the information received, these accused were doing corruption through five modules. They were extorting money from patients in the name of treatment. Extortion was being extorted from patients in the name of supply of stents and other medical necessities, supply of special brands of stents, supply of medical equipment to labs, admission of patients to hospitals in return for bribes, giving fake medical certificates.

The CBI had received information that many doctors and staff of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital were involved in corruption and were doing corruption based on different modules. Many things were done like supply of medical equipments, promotion by doctors, huge amount from companies in return, collection of money from clerks in the name of treating the poor.
