New Delhi; Leading News Service: Heat wave continues in Delhi, 33 people have died due to heat stroke in the last 48 hours. 9 people lost their lives in nearby Noida. 15 people have died in the last 48 hours in Uttar Pradesh including Noida. Uttar Pradesh alone reported 119 deaths during the week, taking the number to 178 from other northern states.
With deaths reported on Wednesday as well, Tuesday night was Delhi's hottest in 12 years. The night temperature was recorded at 33.8 degrees Celsius. Five of the nine bodies in Noida have not been identified.
100 people get dizzy due to heat
According to the police, the body of a youth who was collecting garbage was found near gate number five of a private university in Sector-125 on Tuesday. A dead body of a 60-year-old man was found near Tanksali in Sector 1 in the evening. More than 100 heat-dizzy patients are reaching every hospital in Delhi (38).
Alert in 11 states
A heatwave warning was issued by the Meteorological Department in 11 northern states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana. The mercury reached between 46 and 50 degrees in many states. The temperature in Delhi had gone up to 51 degrees. 12 people are undergoing treatment in intensive care unit in Delhi.
Heatstroke rooms in hospitals
Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda ordered the establishment of special rooms and special units for urgent treatment of patients in government hospitals in the wake of the heat wave.
