New Delhi, Leading News Service: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has been given Z-category security ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Accordingly, armed commandos will be accompanied by Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar during his tour across the country. This security has been provided as per reports of intelligence agencies.
According to the sources, “The Union Home Ministry has directed the Central Reserve Police Force to provide the necessary personnel for the security of Rajiv Kumar. It is understood that this decision was taken in view of the possible threats during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Necessary security will be provided to Rajeev Kumar during his travels across the country, at his office in Delhi as well as at his residence.
A total of 22 security personnel along with Central Reserve Police Force commandos will be deployed for Rajiv Kumar's security. This will include NSG commandos and police. Rajeev Kumar's residence will have armed stationary guards, private security officers (PSOs) providing round-the-clock security and armed escort commandos working in three shifts. Besides, watchers and trained drivers will be on standby in every shift to ensure the safety of Rajeev Kumar.
