Meanwhile, his ex-girlfriend Somi Ali has told that Salman has been receiving threats from the underworld since the 90s. Once a person from the underworld had called on the landline and threatened that they would kidnap Salman's girlfriend Somi.

Recently, in an interview given to IANS, Somi Ali told that she used to live in Galaxy Apartment with Salman. One day she was alone at home when a call from the underworld came on the landline. He said that a call had come on the bedroom landline. A man asked me, who are you talking about? I was taught to speak politely while living in Pakistan. I replied, who are you talking about? So he started saying, where is brother? I said, see Salman Sahab has gone for shooting at this time. He said, tell him that we will take Somi Ali away. He knows who we are. He knows that we belong to the underworld. I was very scared, because Divya (Divya Bharti) had told me that he is like a mafia.

Somi further told in the conversation that when she told Salman about that call, he in response advised Somi to stay away from these issues. Somi said, Salman used to keep me away from these things. I had asked Salman about this. He had said that Somi, it is good that you do not get information about this, because you do not know about it. This will be safe for you. He always kept me away from all this.

Somi Ali further told that at that time the news of the underworld was everywhere. Every day there were reports that heroines had received threats that they would be given contract if they did not do any film.
