Anees Bazmee has directed superhit films like Welcome, No Entry and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

We are talking about director Anees Bazmee. Coming from a middle class family, Anees is today a top director in the industry. However, he has struggled for years to reach here.

Anees used to carry speakers on film sets during the days of struggle. However, he had the talent of writing, due to which sooner or later he got a chance to write films. He wrote the story of many films, for which he did not even get credit. After writing 5-6 films, he got credit for the first time for the 1990 film Swarg. At the age of just 25, he had written the story of a film like Swarg.

Anees was very fond of writing, but did not want to get involved in it. He had learned the nuances of direction under Raj Kapoor. He started directing films for the first time in 1995. After this he directed many superhit films including No Entry, Welcome and Ready.

Story from struggle to success, in the words of Anees himself.

Used to go to Mushairas with his father, used to bring paan, beedi and cigarettes there. Anees says, 'The God above also gives the struggle only to those whom he considers worthy. There should be no whining about the struggle. My father was a poet. He used to make me write ghazals and poems. From there I understood Urdu. By the time I reached eighth and ninth grade, I started going to mushairas with my father. Other poets also used to come there. I used to bring paan, beedi and cigarettes for him.

Went to talk to younger brother, got the job Anees further said, 'You may know me as a director or writer, but I started my career as an actor. Actually, I had gone to talk to my younger brother and I got the chance. It was said from the front that your brother is younger, tell me if you will work? Well, I needed the money, so I said yes.

Needed money, so did small jobs After trying his hand at acting, Anees felt that he was not made for it. He then also worked in the art, editing and sound departments. In this way, before working in direction and writing, he did many small jobs. At that time, he needed money more than following his passion.

Rent used to increase every year, to avoid this, more than 30 houses were changed. Anees changed more than 30 houses during the days of struggle. They did not stay in one house for more than 11 months. The rent used to increase every year. Anees did not have that much money. Anees first bought a one-room house on Mira Road, Mumbai.

Met Raj Kapoor, from there the stars started opening up. After doing small jobs in the industry, Anees Bazmee met a writer. That writer introduced him to Raj Kapoor. Now from here Anees Bazmee's star started rising. He said, 'I learned the nuances of direction under Raj Saheb. I was his assistant in his film Prem Rog (1982). After this I started working with different directors. I worked as an assistant with a total of 15 directors.

Used to write stories, but did not get credit After working as an assistant director for some time, Anees Bazmee started writing stories for films. It is worth noting that he also did ghostwriting for many films. Meaning, he wrote the story, but someone else's name went to it.

Regarding this, Anees says, 'I will not take the name of those films. It is true that I have done ghostwriting for many films. I got paid for that work. However, after writing for 6-7 films, there came a time when my patience broke.

Wrote his name on posters of heaven, fought with the editor who cut the trailer It is about 1990. Anees Bazmee wrote the screenplay of Rajesh Khanna and Govinda starrer film Swarg. The film became a hit as soon as it was released. For the first time, Anees felt that he should also have a name. He went around and wrote his name on the posters of the film. Salim-Javed used to do this once upon a time. Anees had reached the house of the editor who was cutting the trailer of the film at 3 o'clock in the night. Anees even fought with the editor because he did not include his name in the trailer.

Govinda, David Dhawan and Anees together lined up hit films Anees continued writing for many years. At one time the trio of him, Govinda and David Dhawan gave many films. Films like Shola Aur Shabnam, Aankhen and Raja Babu are examples of this. After writing for many years, Anees turned to direction. His real goal was to direct, writing was just a medium.

Anees Bazmee was the first person to show Ajay Devgan in a negative light on screen. Finally, in 1995, he directed his first film Hulchul. This film was not that special. His second film was Ajay Devgan and Kajol starrer Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha. This film became quite a hit. After this, Anees made the film Deewangi with Ajay Devgan. Ajay Devgan was seen in gray shade in this film. Anees Bazmee was the one who showed Ajay Devgan in a negative role for the first time.

Established as a successful director after No Entry Now the year 2005 has come. Anees Bazmee made the film No Entry with Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan. It was the biggest hit of that year. This film established Anees as a big and influential director in the industry.

The success of No Entry gave amazing confidence to Asim. After this he did not look back. After this, films like Welcome in 2007, Singh is King in 2008 and Ready in 2011 were released, whose success made Anees the king of comedy films.

Used to write stories all night, mother used to stand there with tea Anees Bazmee was very close to both his mother and father. He says, 'I used to write stories all night long. Whenever I felt like drinking tea while writing stories, mother always stood there with the kettle. Now whether it was one o'clock in the night or two o'clock, it did not matter to him at all.

My father was the person because of whom I learned to write. If he had not given me language training at a young age, you would not be interviewing me today.

Saying this, Anees Bazmee became emotional and started crying in front of the camera.
