World famous scientist Claudia Sheinbaum is the first female president of Mexico

In the June 2 election, Claudia Scheinbaum of the ruling Morena party won the most, with 58.3% of the vote. Shochil Galvez of the National Action Party came second. He got only 28 percent of the votes.

Mexicans voted on Sunday in a historic presidential election between two women. In fact, Mexico has a history of gender segregation and discrimination, and thus this became a historic moment for the country. About 10 crore people had registered to vote in this election. So it became the biggest election ever in the country.

Three major candidates were fighting for this election. These included Claudia Scheinbaum of the Left, Shochil Galvez, representing the coalition of opposition parties and leader of the conservative PAN party, and Jorge Alvarez Menez, representing the Citizens Movement. 10 crore people voted together for 500 mayors and 128 senators in Sunday's elections.

It is also said to be the most violent election in Mexico's electoral history. According to a report, around 200 people have died during this election so far. More than 50 people have died in Guerrero province alone. The last general elections in Mexico were held in 2018. Around 150 people lost their lives during that time.

In the United States, women gained the right to vote in 1920, while in Mexico, women gained the right to vote in 1953.
