Arjun Dwivedi, a dentist by profession, is in the headlines these days for his acting career. Arjun, who was a part of films like 'Vaccine War' and 'Gadar-2', has released on Diwali. Recently the actor had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar. He told that he has also got a chance to play a special character in Salman Khan's film 'Sikandar'.
When did you get your first chance in acting?
Before coming to Mumbai, Bhopal had worked in some telefilms for Doordarshan. When I came to Mumbai in 2006, my first opportunity was in Dilip Kumar's production serial 'Stree Teri Kahani'. It has been my good fortune that Dilip Sahab liked my audition. He was the one who chose me for this serial. Dilip Sahab praised my acting. There is no bigger award than this in my life. After this I worked in many mythology serials. In which he played the role of Ashwatthama in Ekta Kapoor's Mahabharata. Played the role of Panchal Naresh in Swastik Production's Mahabharata.
How did you get a break in films?
My debut in films was with director Milan Luthria's film 'Baadshaho'. When I met Milan Luthria for the first time for this film, I told him that I had studied in Army School. I know about army background. I am suitable for this role. I tried my best to impress Milan Luthria and finally I got the film. In the very first film, I got a chance to work with a big star cast like Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Vidhut Jammwal, Ileana D'Cruz, Esha Gupta. In this I played the role of a junior army officer with Vidyut Jammwal.
How was your experience in the second film 'Singham Again' with Ajay Devgan?
It has been a very good experience. Ajay Devgan sir is quite a fitness freak. His gym van also runs along. He has a separate van for the gym like a vanity van. Seeing him going to the gym regularly inspired me a lot. His focus towards work is very different. I was very happy that after 'Baadshaho' I got a chance to work in 'Singham Again'.
How did you get the opportunity to work in 'Singham Again'?
Always wanted to work with Rohit Shetty. It was my dream to work with him. Before this film, I had worked with Rohit sir in the web series 'Indian Police Force'. He trusted me and repeated it in 'Singham Again'.
How did your dream of working with Rohit Shetty come true?
Casting director Gaurav Shah always used to tell me that your personality should come through in front of Rohit Shetty. When 'Indian Police Force' was about to start, Gaurav showed my audition to Rohit sir.
Rohit sir liked that audition and cast me in the role of Chief Intelligence Officer of Bangladesh. People liked this character very much. Being on the set with Rohit Shetty sir is like a dream world for me. Love his vibrant energy and the universe he has created. He seems like a hero to me on the set.
What is your character in 'Singham Again'?
I am playing the role of a RAW officer in this film. Even though our department is different in the film, I am a part of the cop universe. How is the operation going on, what kind of involvement I have in it. This will be known only after watching the film. I consider myself lucky that after a blockbuster film like 'Gadar 2', I have got a chance to work in 'Singham Again'. 'Sikandar' will come with Salman Khan next year.
Tell us something about 'Sikander', how did you get this film?
A.R. I am doing the South Tamil film 'SK 23' with Murugadoss. During the shooting of this film, Murugadoss sir was very happy to see my performance. He told Sikandar's team that Arjun has to be kept in Sikandar also. It is my good fortune to have got the opportunity to work with Salman Khan.
Along with acting, are you also devoting time to dentist profession?
I believe that life is one and there is a lot to do in it. I am also associated with dentistry. I keep going to the clinic part time. If you have learned that work, then you should keep doing it. I am also a biker. If I am fond of adventure, I go camping. Camping equipment remains lying in my car.
