Will Team India get a new mentor after the T20 World Cup?

New Delhi; News Agency: Team India will soon have a new mentor after the T20 World Cup. As the current coach Rahul Dravid's extended tenure will end after the T20 World Cup, the process of selecting the coach will be conducted anew.

Team India will play under the coaching of Rahul Dravid in the World Cup starting from June 2 in America and West Indies. After ODI World Cup 2023, Rahul Dravid's coaching tenure was over. But in view of the T20 World Cup, the board and Dravid had mutually agreed to extend it. However, now 'BCCI's secretary Jai Shah has clarified that Rahul Dravid's tenure will not be extended, and 'BCCI' will soon issue an advertisement for the post of coach. Regarding the foreign coach, Jai Shah said, “We cannot decide whether the new coach will be Indian or foreign.” It will depend on 'CAC' and we are a global organisation. However, this time he clearly indicated that it is unlikely that the board will consider different coaches for different formats. Currently this system is adopted by boards like England and Wales Cricket Board and even Pakistan Cricket Board.

Jai Shah further said, this decision will also be taken by 'CAC'. There are many all format players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. Moreover, there is no precedent for such a situation in India. Jai Shah also confirmed that the new coach will be appointed for a longer period and will serve for an initial period of three years.

The 'Impact Player' rule is not permanent

Regarding the 'Impact Player' rule in IPL, Jai Shah said, The Impact Player Rule was a test case. Two new Indian players are getting chance in 'IPL'. When asked, he said the rule was not in favor of the all-rounder. He said, “We will hold discussions with stakeholders, franchisees and broadcasters before taking a decision on the continuation of the 'Impact Player'.” This rule is not permanent. However, none of the above reacted against this rule.

Rahul Dravid's tenure is only till June
