Leaders Online Desk: The decision regarding whether Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will remain in jail or whether he will get bail will be taken today (9th). The Delhi High Court is set to deliver its verdict on Kejriwal's plea challenging the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) arrest and detention in a money laundering case related to the liquor scam.
The court reserved its verdict last week after hearing arguments from both sides. According to the list uploaded on the High Court website, Justice Swarnakanta Sharma will deliver the judgment at 2.30 pm. Kejriwal is currently in judicial custody in Tihar Jail. Kejriwal was arrested by ED on March 21. Then on April 1, the court sent him to judicial custody for 15 days.
The court reprimanded the petition to remove him from the post of chief minister
Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sandeep Kumar has been reprimanded by the High Court for filing a petition seeking the removal of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested in the Delhi liquor scam. Two petitions have been dismissed earlier on the same issue and the court has said that it is only to gain publicity. Justice Subramaniam Prasad, while transferring the petition to the Acting Chief Justice's bench, said that the bench had heard similar petitions in the past. The bench had transferred the petitions to itself and directed to hear all similar cases together. This is the third petition seeking Kejriwal's removal as Chief Minister.
