Bollywood and TV actress Shama Sikander has spoken about casting couch in the film industry. She told that she had to face an uncomfortable situation during an ad shoot because a superstar hugged her in the name of improvising a scene.
In an interview to Bollywood Bubble, Shama said, I felt while shooting for the ad that the actor just wanted to hug me on some pretext or the other. You get a vibe from some people. When he was shooting with me, he said some things to make the scene better. He said that he would make me wear jewelry in the scene. Then he would hug me. When he tried to hug me, I became very uncomfortable. I had never felt like this before.
Shama further said, I have worked with many people before him. Many boys are my friends but I never felt so uncomfortable with anyone. That man was a superstar so what was the need for him to do all this? That was a very shocking incident. I will never work with him again in my life.
Shama also suffered from bipolar disorder. However, she is fit now.
People used to ask for favors indirectly
Shama also talked about casting couch. She said, there were many occasions when people would indirectly ask for favours. I had signed a very big film. I was doing makeup and then I was told that my shoot has been cancelled. I had to shoot with a big superstar and I was told that sir will not come, you can go. I had prepared a lot for the film and waited for hours for the shoot.
They were indirectly giving me hints about many things which could not be said. But I was not mature enough to understand all this. They forced me to leave the set. Later I came to know that they had signed another heroine. I was very shocked to know this but my father consoled me.
Shama came to films from modeling
Shama Sikander started her career with modeling. After that she appeared in many music videos. She gained a lot of popularity by playing the role of Bhayanak Pari in the TV show 'Baalveer' (2014). She has also worked in serials like 'Yeh Meri Life Hai', 'Seven'.
He has also worked in the films 'Prem Agan' (1998), 'Mann' (1999), 'Ansh' (2002), 'Dhoom Dhaaka' (2008).
