Rajesh Khanna is called the first superstar of the Hindi film industry. Rajesh Khanna's 17 back to back films were hits, after which people started calling him, 'Upar Aaka aur Neeche Kaaka'. However, in the later years Rajesh Khanna also tasted failure, but he was not at all prepared for it.
In 1990, Rajesh Khanna gave an interview to a film magazine along with Amitabh Bachchan. In this interview, Kaka told that when his seven films flopped one after the other, he was so devastated that he went to the roof and cried a lot.
Rajesh Khanna had said to God- O God, don't test me so much
Rajesh Khanna said in this interview, 'I remember it was three o'clock in the morning, I was very drunk, I had tasted failure for the first time. One after the other, seven of my films had flopped. That night it was raining, it was dark and I was alone on the roof of my house, I had completely lost control. I shouted very loudly – God, do not test us poor people so severely that we deny your existence.'

Rajesh Khanna further tells that on hearing his voice, Dimple and her staff came running upstairs as they thought that I might take some wrong step. Rajesh Khanna said- 'All this was happening to me because success had taken over my mind and I was not ready to face failure. I remember that the very next day of this incident, Balaji, who was a big producer in the South, offered me the film Amar-Deep (1979). This film was the second chance to revive my career'.
