Shabana Azmi and Om Puri in 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist'.
Shabana said, 'I have a complaint against Meera'
At the event, when Shabana was asked about the best directors she has worked with in her five-decade-long career, she said, 'I have a complaint against a director, I have been talking to her for years and always tell her that we should do a film, but she just gives me a small role and that director is sitting next to me right now.'
Mira Nair.
When Shabana asked- 'What does Rekha have that I don't have?'
After this, Mira Nair could not stop laughing and while sharing an anecdote related to Shabana, she said, once I met Shabana in a five star hotel. She followed me to the washroom and asked me, 'What is there in Rekha that I don't have?'
After this, Meera told Shabana that she knew that her role in 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' was very small but she would definitely make a film with her in the future.
Actually, Mira Nair had made the film 'Kamasutra: A Tale of Love' with Rekha. This film was made in 1996 but was not released in India due to being banned.
