Currently, apart from North India, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Karnataka in South India have also crossed the 45 degree mark due to the heat wave. On May 3, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh. where a temperature of 46.5 degrees was recorded. This was followed by Khammam in Telangana, Kalaikunda in Bengal, Budha in Odisha and Erode in Tamil Nadu where mercury was recorded between 42 degrees and 45 degrees.
