Question: Tell us about the film Vanvas, what kind of film is it and what kind of experience it is going to give?
Anil Sharma: Vanvas is a family film. After Gadar 2, everyone told me that you should make a big action film, why are you making Vanvas? Even Nana Patekar Saheb had said the same. Then I had said that today families have become very nuclear. Every elderly person is a forest dweller in his own home. He sits alone. When you enter the house, you ask about Babuji's well-being and go out within two minutes. Therefore, to realize that family is a part of our life.
Question: Ramji's exile was for 14 years, how long was this exile and what special thing will be seen in it?
Anil Sharma: See, that was the exile of Treta Yuga. In it, the son goes to exile to fulfill his father's promise. Nowadays sons are sending their fathers to exile. This is Kalyug, there is a difference of eras in it. If there is no family then there is nothing. That's why I made this family film. When the movie ends, you will be left sitting on the seat. When you come out, the first thing you will do is call your father.
Anil Sharma has directed the films Gadar and Gadar 2. He has given many hit films with Deol family.
Question: Your son Utkarsh Sharma is the lead in this film, how do you see a father-son duo who turns into an actor-director duo on the set?
Anil Sharma: When Utkarsh is in front of us as an actor, we work as a director. In such a situation, there is a director-actor relationship. He is very professional. Utkarsh is a professional actor. Who have come from America after studying and training.
I am also a highly professional director. Our relationship at home is like the loving relationship between a father and son. Lockdown He showed me Satyajit Ray's cinema. I saw this cinema when I was in the initial days of my career. At that time I did not know Bengali. Now he showed me the whole movie.
Question: How did you convince Nana Patekar, who now lives a little away from Bollywood?
Anil Sharma: Nana sir is a bit of a forest dweller type person. Until they get the script right. He doesn't work. When I took this subject to Nana Sir, he said yes within some time. He worked very hard.
Nana Sir has a huge contribution in his character in this film. People have seen Nana Patekar more in memes. Have seen a little bit in his dialogues. People have never seen the level of Nana Patekar's performance till date. Today's audience will see why Nana Patekar is such a great actor?

It is absolutely true that on the day of release, on 11th August, I called Sunny sir for the first time at 7:30 in the morning when he was watching the review. My wife was also with me. During that call all three of us had tears in our eyes. Sunny sir told me – This has been amazing.
Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma.
Question: After the success of Gadar, you told Sunny that you are an actor who can take Rs 50 crore for a film, today you have proved that also?
Anil Sharma: Sunny sir deserves it a lot. There is a business community, some studios look at how much business your previous films did. You get paid accordingly. The studio is also in its right place. If you are earning only Rs 2. You will get that much and if you are earning Rs 100 then you will get this much. It is true that after Gadar 2, Sunny sir has got what he deserves. I am very happy about them.
Question: How was your experience of the films Gadar and Gadar-2?
Anil Sharma: I have seen the same atmosphere in both the films. Gadar 2 has been an original hit. To make it a hit, we neither bought tickets in bulk nor did any corporate booking. The general audience had come to see the film. Our ticket rate was also kept at Rs 200 to 250. If we had booked the ticket for Rs 500 to Rs 600. Our film does not earn Rs 700 crore. Our film would have earned more than a thousand crores.
