Voter lists of Maharashtra and three states will be updated









New Delhi, Leading News Service: The voter lists are going to be updated ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the states of Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir. The Central Election Commission has issued instructions to the state election authorities in this regard on Friday (22nd).

In Maharashtra and three other states, the work of updating all voter lists is to be completed by August 20. Election Commission is likely to announce the dates of elections in four states after updating the voter list. The term of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly ends on 8 November 2024, while the Haryana Assembly will be dissolved on 3 November. The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has been dissolved since 2018. The President's reign is currently underway there and the Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to hold elections there by September this year.
