Vicky Kaushal's film 'Sam Bahadur' was released on December 1 last year. This film clashed with Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Animal'. Despite this clash, both the films did good business. Now for the first time Vicky has given his reaction on this clash.
In an interview given to The Week magazine, Vicky said that he knew from the beginning that this film was like a test match. Vicky said, 'We knew that our film is not a masala film, so we had to wait for it to be successful. On the other hand, Animal had shock value which became the reason for its instant success.
Sam Bahadur was a biopic of the country's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw which was directed by Meghna Gulzar.
Gradually the audience started relating to it: Vicky
Vicky further said, 'I, my director Meghna Gulzar and the entire team of the film were confident that this film would draw the audience to theaters through word of mouth promotion. Anyway, if this film does not click with the audience then it does not matter when and with which film it is releasing. But as time passed, people started relating to it and talking about it.
Animal was an action entertainer directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
'Animal' earned 7 times more than 'Sam Bahadur'
'Animal' had earned 7 times more than 'Sam Bahadur' at the worldwide box office. 'Animal' had earned Rs 917 crore. It was the third highest-grossing film of the year after Jawan and Pathan. Sam Bahadur had done a business worth Rs 130 crore.
Ranbir-Vicky will be seen together in Bhansali's film
On the work front, Ranbir and Vicky will soon start shooting for Bhansali's next film 'Love and War'. Apart from both of them, Alia Bhatt will also be in this film which is going to be released on Christmas 2025. Even before this, Ranbir and Vicky have worked together on two films. Where Vicky played a supporting role in Ranbir's 'Sanju'. Ranbir did a cameo in Vicky's film 'Love Per Square Foot'.
