According to Additional Chief Conservator of Forests Nishant Verma, 29 forest fires have occurred in reserve forests and 29 in urban or forest panchayats in the last 24 hours. A total of 33.34 hectares of forest has been affected. However, there was no loss of life anywhere. Forests in Tehri, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts of Garhwal division continue to burn. The fire is spreading rapidly as it is mostly a pine forest. Forest personnel are making efforts to douse the fire. When a fire is extinguished in one place, it flares up in another. A large amount of forest resources have been damaged in the fire.
