Union Cabinet Meeting: India to Become Semiconductor Manufacturing Hub; Central approval for 3 projects, information of Union Minister Ashwin Vaishnav


Leaders Online Desk: In the cabinet meeting of the central government today (29th), the central government has taken a big decision on semiconductor production. Three new semiconductor manufacturing projects were approved at the central meeting. In this, the government has approved the investment of nearly 1.26 lakh crores in three semiconductor projects. In this regard, Union Minister Ashwin Vaishnav has said in the information given to the media that in the central meeting held today on Thursday 29th, Tata Company's semiconductor chip manufacturing project has been approved for nearly 50 thousand crores of rupees. First Semiconductor Unit in North East Assam

91,000 crore investment for project in Gujarat

Tata Electronics Private Limited (“TEPL”) will set up a fab”>semiconductor fab in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC), Taiwan. “This fab will be built in Dholera, Gujarat. 91,000 crores will be invested in this fab. PSMC is known for its expertise in logic and memory foundry departments. PSMC has 6 semiconductor foundries in Taiwan. Capacity starts at 50,000 wafers per month. (WSPM),” the release said. In June 2023, the Union Cabinet approved Micron's proposal to set up a semiconductor unit at Sanand in Gujarat.

300 units of free electricity to one crore families

The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to install rooftop solar to one crore families. 75,021 crores will be spent on this scheme. “The cabinet meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. In this, 'PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana' has been approved today. Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed that one crore families will get 300 units of free electricity under this scheme.
