Uniform Civil Code in Modi Govt's new term

New Delhi, News Agency: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the BJP, after coming to power for the third time, will implement the Uniform Civil Code and 'One Country One Election' policy in the country. In an interview to PTI, he claimed that BJP will come back to power.

Amit Shah said, this is the responsibility given by the framers of the country's constitution and we, the parliament and legislatures of this country have to fulfill it. The constitution committee itself has prepared the guidelines in that regard at that time. At that time K. M. Munshi, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar had said that in a secular country, we do not want laws based on religion, but we want equal civil law. BJP's decision to enact a Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand is a step in that direction.

Amit Shah further said that the Equal Citizenship Act is a revolutionary social, legal and religious reform. The law made by Uttarakhand government should be verified at social and legal level. It should also be discussed with religious leaders. Stating that there should be a comprehensive discussion on this issue, Shah said, it is only from this brainstorming that the legislature of the country will seriously consider the matter and implement the law. Shah pointed out that this is why the BJP has promised to implement the Uniform Civil Code in its resolution. On the possibility of holding the summer elections in winter, Amit Shah said, it will be definitely considered.
