In India, the unemployment rate for graduates is 29.1 percent, while the unemployment rate for those with no education is 3.4 percent. That means the unemployment rate of graduates is almost 9 times higher. This shocking fact has come to light in the 'ILO' report prepared on unemployment in India. According to the report, unemployment is a major problem among the Indian youth. It is widely seen in the youth who have completed secondary or higher education. It has been revealed that there has been a continuous increase. New jobs are available in the Indian market. However, there is a huge gap between the jobs created and the skills of the manpower. The report also mentions the view highlighted by former RBI Governor Raghuram Ranjan that India's declining standard of schooling has adversely affected the economy.
Indian economy has failed to create high income generating jobs in sectors other than agriculture. Due to this, the unemployment rate has also increased.
Unemployment increased in China
In the first two months of this year, the unemployment rate of youth aged 16 to 24 in China has risen to 15.3 percent. About 5.3 percent unemployment is seen in the urban population. Compared to that, this rate is three times higher.
Unemployment in India has come down
In India in 2000 the unemployment rate among youth aged 15 to 29 was 88.6 percent. In 2022, this rate has come to 82.9 percent. In the same period, the number of educated youth has increased from 54.2 percent to 65.7 percent.
Women are more unemployed
Women have been hit hard by this. 76.7 percent of educated women are unemployed. In comparison, male unemployment rate is 62.2 percent. Interestingly, the rate of unemployment is higher in urban areas than in rural areas. (Unemployment Rate in India)
