After reaching West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate this state-of-the-art metro rail service to the countrymen in a program. The underwater metro in Kolkata is built under the river Hooghly. A few days ago Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reviewed Kolkata Metro Rail services. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and dedicate the underwater metro rail, which is completely ready for passengers, to the nation on Wednesday (5th). (Underwater Metro In Kolkata)
Metro rail will pass through a tunnel built under the river, the first project
In February 2020, the then Railway Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the first phase of Kolkata Metro's East-West Metro Corridor connecting Salt Lake Sector V and Salt Lake Stadium. The 16.5 km long metro line connects Howrah on the west coast of Hooghly and Salt Lake City on the east coast. 10.8 km portion is underground. This is the first of its kind transport project in India, in which the metro rail will pass through a tunnel built under the river. (Underwater Metro In Kolkata)
Maharashtra will also get a gift of development projects
Apart from the underwater metro in Kolkata, Prime Minister Kavi Subhash-Hemant Mukhopadhyay metro section and Taratala-Majerhat metro section will also be inaugurated by PM Modi. Along with this, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate many major metro and rapid transit projects across the country. Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Pune Metro Rail Project Phase 1 between Pimpri Chinchwad Metro-Nigdi.
