Udhayanidhi said- Many northern states do not even have their own film industry.

Tamil Nadu Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin has compared the film industry of South and North India. He said in the literary festival organized in Kozhikode – Apart from Bollywood, no other state in North India has a film industry like South India. This program took place on 2 November.

Udhayanidhi said- Tamil film industry is now generating billions of dollars of revenue. Kerala, Telugu and Kannada cinema are also flourishing. But is the film industry of any language in North India as big as ours? The answer is 'no'.

He said that Bollywood has left behind the small film industries of the northern states to a great extent. Hindi films are now produced on a large scale in Mumbai, whereas Marathi, Bhojpuri, Bihari, Haryanvi and Gujarati cinema gets very little attention. Many northern states do not even have their own film industry.

Recalling the 1950s, Udhayanidhi said that Tamil cinema at that time was largely Sanskrit. Was accessible mainly to high class and affluent audiences.

Tirupati said that Red Giant Films (Udayanidhi Stalin's production company) is also making Hindi versions from Tamil films and is earning a lot of money. They want Hindi to earn money and remain in power, they do not want people to learn Hindi.

Udhayanidhi said on anti-Sanatan statement – will not apologize

uDayanidhi Stalin had given a statement against Sanatan Dharma in a program on 2 September 2023. Four days after giving the statement, i.e. on 7th September, he gave clarification for the first time. He had said, 'I am not an enemy of any religion. My statement was misinterpreted.

He had said that I am not against Hindu religion but Sanatan Pratha. Voices have been raised against Sanatana Dharma in Tamil Nadu for the last 100 years. We will continue to speak against it for the next 200 years. Ambedkar, Periyar have also been speaking about this on many occasions in the past. ​​​​​​​

After this he refused to apologize for his remarks. He had said in an event in Chennai that I said the same things about Sanatan which Periyar, Annadurai and Karunanidhi also said.

Udhayanidhi had said that my statements were distorted. There were many court cases across the country including Tamil Nadu. I was also asked to apologize, but I am the grandson of Kalaignar (art scholar). I will not apologize.

The purpose of my comments was to point out the alleged oppressive practices towards women. Women were not allowed to study in Hinduism. They could not go out of their house and if their husbands died, they too had to die. Periyar had raised his voice against all this. Read the full news…
