The life of writer-poet Gulzar, winner of many prestigious awards including Jnanpith and Oscar, is full of many colours. The occasion was the launch of the English edition of the book 'Dhoop Aane Do'. Gulzar sahab marked his presence in this function.
The book 'Dhoop Aane Do' can be considered as his autobiography in a way. The pages of this book are full of experiences and events of his life. Originally written in Marathi language, this book has been translated into English. Famous writer Ambrish Mishra has translated it into English.
Gulzar sahab used to write for a Marathi magazine, the chapters written there were compiled in a book
Ambrish Mishra talked about the origin of this book. He said, 'Many special issues were published in Marathi language during festivals. A magazine called Riturang was published on the occasion of Diwali. Gulzar sahab wrote for this magazine for 33 years. He used to write an essay for it every year.
Apart from this, he used to write his thoughts about many other personal and social events. He used to talk to the editor of Riturang in Urdu. His words were translated into Marathi. Now it has been translated into English, the responsibility of which has been taken by me.

Ambarish also said, 'I am very excited about this book launch today. Although I do not enjoy writing in English, it was great working with Gulzar sahab. He has weighed every word carefully before putting it in this book.'
Whatever the language, the essence should not change
Gulzar sahab said that translation is only of words, not of thoughts. People make mistakes in understanding this thing. Whatever the language, the essence should not be changed.
The division is of land, not of people
The pain that Gulzar sahab suffered during the Partition is also mentioned in this book. He said, 'I have suffered the pain of Partition. Partition should never happen. However, let me tell you one thing, partition is always of land, not of people. It is better if this is not talked about in today's time.
Gulzar sahab said that there are many incidents related to him in this book, he cannot give special status to any one of them. This book is written from the heart.
There are some rare photographs in this book which depict the life journey of Gulzar sahab. There are many such incidents in it which have brought about a radical change in the life of Gulzar sahab.
