The Union Cabinet finally approves the port

The first meeting of the Union Cabinet under the leadership of Narendra Modi concluded on Wednesday. 5 important decisions were taken in this meeting. In this, approval was given to the port of Pagaran in Palghar district of Maharashtra. This port will be counted among the top ten ports of the world. The cabinet has sanctioned Rs 76 thousand 200 crores for this port. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed the decision of the Modi Cabinet.

The proposal for environmental clearance of the expansion port was sent by the state to the Union Ministry of Environment Change and Forests. But after that, the issue of environmental clearance of the Port of Parkan was delayed as the winds of election started blowing. Now that the NDA government has come to power at the Center again, the issue of environmental clearance of the expansion port has come to the fore. Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority Chairman Unmesh Wagh informed that the expansion of the port has finally been approved in the Union Cabinet meeting held today.

Union Minister Vaishnav said that the capacity of the port will be 23 million container teu. This port has more capacity than all ports in the country. The central government expects to provide employment to 12 lakh people due to this port. The port will be just 12 km from the railway station. It is 150 km away from Mumbai.

Vaishnav further said that the port issue has been pending for 60 years. But nothing happened after this, now the Modi government has decided to complete it. The port will have 9 container terminals, from which megaship containers will arrive. The port will be jointly developed by Maharashtra Merry Time Ports and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. The Union Minister said that this port will be ready by 2029.

It is proposed in Dahanu taluka of Palghar district and it will be constructed by filling in the sea. The government claims that this port is going to be a world class port. This port will be established in partnership with Maharashtra Maritime Board and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. Around 77 thousand crores are required for the construction of this entire project. The project is expected to be constructed by 2027 or 2027.
