New Delhi, Leading News Service: The Supreme Court on Friday (26) sought a reply from the Archeology Department of India regarding the vision document prepared for the protection of the Taj Mahal. Justice Abhay S. A bench of Oka and Ujwal Bhuyan on Friday heard a plea raising concerns about environmental pollution in the Taj Trapezium zone. At this time, a reply was sought from the Archaeological Survey of India.
Raman filed a petition expressing environmental concerns about the Taj Mahal. In the petition, he had said that the 'problems have arisen due to ineffective functioning of the Taj Trapezium Zone Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority.'
In the hearing on this, the court also noted the earlier order dated July 26, 2018. It noted that the School of Planning and Architecture and the state of Uttar Pradesh had prepared the vision document without consulting the Archaeological Survey of India, which is responsible for the maintenance of the Taj Mahal.
Consequently, the Supreme Court directed the State of Uttar Pradesh to submit a copy of the Vision Plan and directed the Archaeological Survey of India to submit its response to the Vision Plan through an affidavit within two months. The next hearing will be held on 11 July 2024 to discuss the implementation of the Vision Plan with comments from the Archaeological Survey of India.
