The demand for immediate notification of center-wise polling was rejected

New Delhi, News Agency: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a plea seeking to upload the exact (final) percentage of voting in the Lok Sabha elections on its website and also to include the center-wise voting data. The court refused to issue any direction to the Election Commission on the demands of the petitioners.

5 phases of elections are completed, 2 phases are left. The Supreme Court also mentioned that in such a situation, if the data is to be uploaded, it will be difficult for the Election Commission to immediately recommend the manpower for the same.

A bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma gave the decision. The petition was filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The petition sought the commission to upload Form 17C data and centre-wise polling figures on its website within 48 hours. The petition also states that the court should direct the commission to do so.

In the hearing held on Wednesday, the commission had opposed the plea of 'ADR'. The affidavit was filed by the commission. Disclosure of Form 17C (record of votes cast at each polling station) will cause confusion among voters; The reason given by the Commission was that it would also include the counting of ballot papers. In this affidavit, the commission also clarified that there is no law that states that the final voting statistics of all polling stations must be declared. Form 17C can be given only to the polling agent. The law does not allow it to be given to anyone else. Form 17C is certified by the presiding officer and issued to all the candidates, the commission also said.
