Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) had filed a petition in the Madras High Court. In which a demand was made from the court that the film review should be banned till three days after the release of the film. Madras High Court has now rejected this petition.

TFAPA had appealed by filing a petition in the Madras High Court. TFAPA had asked the state and central governments to ban film reviews on social media platforms like X, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook for three days after their theatrical release.

Have full right to review – Justice

Justice S. Sonthar rejected the petition, saying that it comes under the constitutional right to freedom of expression. Therefore, this cannot be banned. Reviewers have full right to review any film, it is their own choice.

Reviews cause harm to films – TFAPA

On which TFAPA advocate Vijayan Subramanian said that some people defame directors, producers and actresses in the guise of film review, which causes huge loss to the film. He said that recently, films like 'Kanguva', 'Indian 2' and 'Vettaiyaan' were released. The film was negatively reviewed on YouTube channels. Due to which the earnings of films were greatly affected.

There should be a ban on reviews inside theater premises – TNPC

Let us tell you, on November 20, Tamil Nadu Producers Council (TNPC) had issued a statement. In which he had demanded the theater owners to ban YouTube channels recording video reviews and public reviews inside the theater premises after the film screening.

Opposing the film review, the association said that social media platforms are being misused. In the guise of film reviews, 'personal hatred' is being promoted against directors and producers.
