Sundararajan, who was the Tamil Nadu BJP chief till 2019, was appointed as the Governor of Telangana in September 2019. In February 2021, he was given the additional charge of Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Tamilisai, who belongs to the Nagar community, contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. But he was defeated by DMK's Kanimozhi in Thoothukudi by a huge margin.
According to sources, she may become active in the BJP again. He can be nominated from any of the three Lok Sabha constituencies including Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu.
BJP feels that Sundararajan has a closer relationship with the people of Puducherry. Due to this, there is a possibility that Kanimozhi, currently an MP of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, will be nominated from one of the three seats in Tamil Nadu, including the Thoothukudi seat.
He also contested the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections three times. He contested from Radhapuram in 2006, Velachery in 2011 and Virugampakkam in 2026. All three times they had to face defeat. (Tamilisai Soundararajan resigns)
