The T20 World Cup is jointly organized by West Indies and America. With an aim to spread cricket around the world, the ICC handed over the T20 World Cup co-hosting title to the US. Meanwhile, a temporary stadium was built in New York only for the T20 World Cup matches. which became known as Nassau County Stadium.

Teams batting first won three out of eight matches on this ground, while teams chasing the target won five matches. This ground was lucky for India. The Indian team played all their group matches in this stadium. Rohit Sene won all these three matches. On June 12, Team India secured their place in the Super-8 by defeating America by 7 wickets. After this match, the work of demolishing this stadium has started.

News agency ANI shared a video on its X account showing a bulldozer near the scene of the incident. This means that this stadium built for the T20 World Cup will be demolished soon.

248 crores spent on building the ground

According to reports, Nassau County Stadium was a modular stadium. As much as 248 crore rupees were spent to build it. It took 106 days to build the stadium. It started in September 2023. The total seating capacity of the stadium was 34000. Now this stadium is going to be demolished in just 6 weeks.

Use of drop in pitches in stadiums

A drop in pitch was used at the Nassau Cricket Stadium. This pitch was ordered from Adelaide. The highest score on this pitch is 137. After the stadium is demolished, the pitch will be preserved at Eisenhower Park. Players of local cricket clubs will be able to benefit from this pitch.

Controversy over the stadium pitch

New York's Nassau County Stadium has been embroiled in controversy during the 2024 T20 World Cup. This stadium was built in 106 days. Perhaps that is why the pitch has uneven bounce and more help to the bowlers. Everyone was surprised by the nature of the pitch and even the ICC agreed.
