T20 World Cup 2024: Canada's shocker also defeats Ireland

New York; News Agency: The season of shocking results in the T20 World Cup 2024 continues as Canada defeated Ireland by 12 runs in the Group 'A' match on Friday. Batting first, Canada scored 137 for 7. Chasing this challenge, the Irish batsmen went on a rampage. Their wickets fell at regular intervals. So they could not have a partnership. Their Mark Adair single-handedly held the fort; But he could not lead the team to victory. Adair top scored with 34 and Ireland lost. Ireland scored 125 for 7 in 20 overs.

Ireland won the toss and elected to bowl first. Navneet Dhaliwal (6) returned in the third over with the wicket of Mark Adair. Dhaliwal was caught in the second over. Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Muvva put Canada on track with a half-century partnership. This partnership of 75 runs was broken in the 19th over. Kirton was caught for 49 runs in 35 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes. Barry McCarthy took two wickets in this over. Muvva (37) played till the end and took the team to 137 for 7.
