T20 World Cup 2024 : Bangladesh's first win; Sri Lanka lost by 2 wickets

Leader Online Desk: In the 15th match of T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka (SL vs BAN) by 2 wickets. This is Bangladesh's first win in this tournament. After losing the toss and electing to bat first in the match played at Dallas, Sri Lanka scored 124 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh scored 125 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 19 overs and won the match by two wickets.

Bangladesh have strengthened their Super-8 bid with a win in a thrilling Group D match (SL vs BAN). Currently, Bangladesh is at the third position in the points table. Along with this, Sri Lanka has reached the last position after losing the second match in a row. Earlier, they had to accept defeat against South Africa by six wickets.

Sri Lanka, who lost the toss and came to bat first in this match, scored 124 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs on the strength of Pathum Nisanka's knock of 47 runs. Chasing the target of 125 runs, Bangladesh did not get off to a good start. Dhananjay D'Silva struck first on one run. Soumya Sarkar returned to the pavilion without opening the account, while Tanjeed Hasan was bowled by Tushar. He could score only three runs. After this Najmul Hasan Shanto was dismissed by Tushara. For Sri Lanka, Nuwan Tushara took four wickets and Wanindu Hasaranga took two wickets. At the same time DeSilva and Pathirana took one wicket each.
