Leaders Online Desk: A Naxalite was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Saturday, police said. The encounter took place on a forest hill between Tolanai and Tetrai villages when a team of security forces was carrying out an anti-Naxal operation.
The operation was launched on Friday night based on intelligence that Naxalites were present in the area. Meanwhile, an encounter broke out between the Naxalites and the security forces. Here After the firing stopped, the security personnel found the dead body of a Naxalite at the spot. A loading gun and large quantity of explosives have also been recovered from this place. The identity of the deceased Naxal is yet to be ascertained and a search operation is underway in the surrounding area.
This incident has taken the number of Naxalites killed in encounters with security forces in Chhattisgarh to 105 this year. A dozen Naxalites were killed in a similar encounter in Bijapur district on May 10.
According to police reports, 10 Naxalites, including three women, were killed in another encounter on April 30 in a forest on the border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts. Additionally, 29 Naxalites were killed by security forces in an encounter in Kanker district on April 16.
