Leader Online Desk: Indian stock market Sensex and Nifty closed higher for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday (Dec 24) due to positive global cues. The Sensex rose 114 points to settle at 73,852. While the NSE Nifty closed at 22,402 with a gain of 34 points. BSE Midcap closed 0.9 percent higher and Smallcap 0.8 percent higher. Most buying in the market was seen in metals and healthcare sectors. While IT and media stocks were hit by selling.

Which stocks rose, which fell?

The Sensex traded at 73,880 today. On the Sensex, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Power Grid, Kotak Bank, Ultratech Cement, NTPC, Bajaj Finance, LT remained bullish. Tech Mahindra, TCS, Maruti, Reliance, Infosys, Titan shares fell.

Hindalco, Cipla, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Power Grid remained the top gainers on Nifty. Shares of Tata Consumer became the top loser on Nifty. The shares fell by as much as 5 percent. Along with this, the shares of Grasim, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, HDFC Life also fell by 1 percent each.

Tata Consumer hit

Shares of FMCG major Tata Consumer fell 5 percent to Rs 1,111 on the BSE in Wednesday's trade. Tata Consumer's consolidated net profit for the March quarter fell 19 percent year-on-year to Rs 217 crore. Tata Consumer's quarterly figures failed to impress investors.
