Leaders Online: Indian stock market Sensex and Nifty closed higher for the third consecutive day on Friday (Dec 22). Some volatility was observed in the market today. The Sensex closed up 190 points at 72,831. While the Nifty settled at 22,096 with an increase of 84 points. (Stock Market Closing Bell)
Metals, autos, realty, FMCG, capital goods, healthcare and oil and gas gained 0.5-1 percent each. While the IT index fell by 2 percent. The BSE midcap index gained 0.3 percent and the smallcap index gained 1 percent.
IT shares showed weakness after tech giant Accenture cut its full-year revenue growth forecast. But losses were pared by buying in other sectoral indices.
Top Gainers, Top Losers
Sun Pharma, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, Titan, ITC, LT, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel were the top gainers on Sensex. While the shares of Infosys, Wipro, HCL Tech, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv fell.
Top gainers on the Nifty were UPL, Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Sun Pharma. While Wipro, Infosys, LTIMindtree, HCL Technologies and TCS fell.
