Stock Market Closing Bell | Profit Booking! Sensex, Nifty break 5-day rally, Bajaj shares tumble


Leaders Online Desk: The bullishness of the last 5 sessions in the Indian stock market took a break on Friday (26th). Sensex and Nifty closed lower on weak global cues and profit booking. The Sensex closed down 609 points at 73,730. While the Nifty fell by 150 points to settle at Rs 22,419. The Indian stock market had a bullish start today. But this boom did not last long. Nifty banks, infra and auto stocks witnessed the biggest declines today. All other sectoral indices closed in the green except for Auto, Bank, Capital Goods. Power, oil and gas, healthcare, realty, media gained 0.3-1 percent. BSE Midcap closed 0.8 percent higher and Smallcap 0.2 percent higher.

Which stocks fell?

Bajaj Finance shares were the top losers on the Sensex. The shares fell by as much as 7 percent. At the same time, shares of Bajaj Finserv fell by 3.5 percent. Shares of IndusInd Bank, Nestle India, M&M, JSW Steel, Kotak Bank, HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, SBI fell between 1-3 percent. Meanwhile, shares of Tech Mahindra were the top gainers. This share increased by 7 percent. Shares of Wipro, ITC showed minor gains.

Bajaj Finance shares tumbled in today's trading session. The stock fell 7 percent to Rs 6,720 on the BSE. (Bajaj Finance Share Price) The non-banking financial company has estimated its assets to grow between 26 percent and 28 percent in the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2024. Nestlé India also declined

Shares of Nestlé India fell 3 percent to Rs 2,478 on the NSE today. Nestlé announced its fourth quarter results on Thursday. Its standalone net profit rose 27 percent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 934 crore in the March quarter. 737 crores a year ago. (Nestle India Share Price)

Shares of 'Tech Mahindra' rebound

Shares of Tech Mahindra (TechM shares) rose 7 percent to Rs 1,280 on BSE today. Interestingly, despite the IT company's weak fourth quarter (Q4 FY24) results, its shares rose. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 2,823.33 crore on April 25, according to NSE data. While domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 6,167.56 crore.
