Stock Market Closing Bell: 'Positive' movement of stock market, Sensex rises by 149 points


Leader Online Desk: The domestic stock markets opened slightly higher today. This positive trend continued throughout the day. The Sensex rose 149 points to close at 76,606.57, while the Nifty 50 gained 58 points to settle at 23,322.95.

Today the domestic stock market opened with slight gains today. Both Sensex and Nifty are seen opening higher. Nifty opened above 23300 on June 12 due to mixed global cues. The Sensex was trading up 147.65 points, or 0.19 per cent, at 76,604.24. The Nifty was trading up 48.70 points, or 0.21 per cent, at 23,313.50.

Nifty and midcap indices hit fresh record highs intraday, but before the close, investors in the market preferred profit-taking. The trend has been visible in the market for the past several sessions. Nifty hit a new intraday high of 23,441 and Nifty Midcap also crossed 54,300 for the first time. The Nifty closed up 58 points at 23,322. The Sensex closed up 149 points at 76,606. Nifty Bank rose 189 points to close at 49,895.

Nifty Midcap crossed the 54,000 thousand mark for the first time

Midcap and smallcap indices hit fresh record highs. Nifty Midcap has crossed the 54,000 mark for the first time. Several oil and IT stocks rose, including BPCL, HPCL, HCL Tech, LTIM, Infosys, Tech Mahindra.

2001 shares had increased. While 496 stocks fell. 105 shares remained unchanged. The top gainers in the Nifty were HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, BPCL, Wipro and LTIMindtree. Asian Paints, Titan Company, Grasim, NTPC and HUL fell.

These shares became the top gainers

Sensex and Nifty closed higher. Mid and small cap stocks shined in today's market. Coal India, Power Grid, SBI Life Insurance, LTIMindtree and Eicher Motors were the top gainers in the Nifty while shares of Britannia, HUL, M&M, Titan Company and Tata Consumer declined. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose 1 per cent each.

Rupee strengthened by 2 paise

Indian rupee strengthened by 2 paise today. The rupee strengthened by 2 paise against the dollar to close at 83.55/$.
