Stock Market Closing Bell | Investors cautious ahead of US Fed decision, Sensex-Nifty close with minor gains | leader


Leaders Online: Volatility was observed in the Indian stock market on Wednesday (20th) ahead of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. The Sensex rose 89 points to close at 72,101. While the Nifty settled at 21,839 with a marginal gain of 21 points. BSE Midcap and Smallcap closed flat. (Stock Market Closing Bell)

Investors have taken a cautious stance ahead of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. As a result, benchmark stock market indices struggled to gain momentum on Wednesday. The market got support from the boom in energy, auto shares. Metal shares saw a decline.

Nifty Energy, FMCG, Infra, Realty and Auto were the top gainers, while Nifty Metals, Pharma and IT declined. The sectoral indices of Auto, FMCG, Realty, Oil & Gas gained 0.5-1 percent each, while the Metals index fell by nearly 1 percent.

'These' shares are top gainers, top losers

BSE Sensex traded at 72 thousand level today. Sensex Maruti, Power Grid, Nestlé India, SBI, ITC, Reliance, Tech Mahindra, Kotak Bank remained bullish. Shares of Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever, HCL Tech fell.

Eicher Motors, Maruti, Power Grid, Nestle India, ONGC remained the top gainers on Nifty 50. While the shares of Tata Steel, Tata Consumer, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank fell by 1 to 2 percent. (Stock Market Closing Bell)

Reliance Power shares bullish

Shares of Reliance Power rallied after reports that Anil Ambani's Reliance Power had defaulted on three banks — ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and DBS Bank. The stock rose nearly 5 percent to a high of Rs 23.83 on the BSE. (Reliance Power Share Price)
