Amar Singh Chamkila, a film based on the life of Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, has been streamed on Netflix on April 12. Meanwhile, news has come to light that late actress Sridevi had a heartfelt wish to work in a Hindi film with Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. But Chamkila rejected his offer.
Chamkila said that she did not know Hindi. Then Sridevi agreed to do a Punjabi film with him. However, even after this his dream remained unfulfilled. This was revealed by Chamkila's close friend Swarn Sivia in an interview.
Sridevi was a big fan of Chamkila
Swarna Sivia had said- Sridevi was a big fan of Amar Singh Chamkila. He had also offered Chamkila to become a hero in a film. But Chamkila refused citing that she did not know Hindi. Then Sridevi also offered him training in Hindi within a month. Chamkila also refused to take this and said – I will incur a loss of Rs 10 lakh in that one month.
Then Sridevi expressed her desire to work with him in a Punjabi film but this was also not possible.
'Chamkila was a good-natured person'
Sivia further said – He was a human gem. The people of Punjab loved him very much. Most people knew him as a singer, but very few knew that he was a great human being.
He came home in 1986. He saw that my mother was ill. Then he gave me Rs 10,000 for my mother's treatment, which was really a huge amount.
Famous folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila became popular with his different songs. Due to the lyrics of the songs, he remained in controversies many times. On March 8, 1988, Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot were shot dead. Two other members of his band were also killed along with him.

The film Amar Singh Chamkila has been released on OTT platform Netflix on April 12. This film is directed by Imtiaz Ali. The writer and producer of the film is also Imtiaz Ali. In the film, Diljit, Amar Singh Chamkila and Parineeti Chopra are in the role of his wife Amarjot.
