Sonu Nigam remembered late singer Mohammed Rafi during the 55th Indian International Film Festival held in Goa. A session titled 'Aasmaan Se Aaya Farishta – A Tribute to Mohammed Rafi- King of Melody' was organised. Mohammad Rafi was honored in this session. During this, Sonu Nigam praised Mohammed Rafi and said, 'He was a prayerful man, a Muslim, yet he used to sing bhajans as if a Hindu was singing. I don't understand how he managed to convert into singing.

'He had the quality to adapt his voice'

During the film festival, Sonu Nigam said, 'Mohammed Rafi had the quality to adapt the voice of actors of every generation. He also used to sing 'Hum Kaale Hain To Kya Hua Dilwale Hain', and songs like 'Sar Jo Tera Chakarae Ya Dil Dooba Jaaye'. His voice was perfect for Dilip Kumar, Johnny Walker, Mehmood and Rishi Kapoor. Sonu said that Rafi's voice complemented the different personalities on screen.

'When he sang bhajans, he looked like a staunch Hindu'

Sonu Nigam further said, 'When he used to sing bhajans, it seemed like a true Hindu was singing. He was a Muslim, a praying man. How does their conversion to singing happen? This is a big thing, not everyone can do this.

'They were volcanoes that erupted on the mic'

Sonu Nigam said, 'I know many singers who can sing Sufi songs very well but cannot sing bhajans. Mohammed Rafi used to sing from Ramzan to Raksha Bandhan. He used to sing happy songs, sad songs, even birthday songs. There is nothing that he has not done. He was a volcano, who erupted only on the mic.

A film will be made on Mohammad Rafi

During the film festival, Mohammed Rafi's son Shahid Rafi has announced the biopic film of his father Rafi. This film will be directed by Oh My God film director Umesh Shukla.
