Union Minister Smriti Irani has revealed that on the advice of an astrologer, Ekta Kapoor gave her a job in the TV show 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'. He also told that in the beginning of his career the earning was very less, due to which there was a situation of poverty.
Smriti Irani has also worked as a fashion model and TV producer.
Got work in Ekta Kapoor's show on the advice of astrologer
In an interview given to Curly Tales, Smriti Irani said, I did not get work in the TV show 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' because of my personality. Actually, there was an astrologer sitting in Ekta Kapoor's office who saw me from a distance and asked me to stop. The astrologer's name was Janardan and he said that one day I would become a big star. He told Ekta that if she works with me, I will become very famous in the country.
I didn't know that Ekta was also present behind Pandit. I had gone to sign the contract of another show. After listening to the astrologer, Ekta immediately came to me and asked which contract I had come to sign.
Used to work in McDonald's at a monthly salary of Rs 1800.
At that time I was working in McDonald's. My monthly earning there was Rs 1800. Whereas I was going to get Rs 1200-1300 for that show. In such a situation, Rs 1200 per day was much better.
After knowing all this, Ekta tore that contract and decided to cast me in the role of Tulsi Virani at a salary of Rs 1800 per day. I was shocked to see this. Where I used to earn Rs 1800 a month by washing utensils, now I was going to get Rs 1800 every day. This moment was really very special for me. I felt like I had won the lottery.
The first episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi serial was telecast on 3 July 2000 while the final episode was telecast on 6 November 2008. Smriti played the role of Tulsi in it.
Smriti kept working despite miscarriage
Smriti had to face a lot of challenges during the shooting of this serial. She used to work in two shifts. During the day she used to shoot for Ravi Chopra's Ramayana while in the evening shift she used to shoot for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. There was a time when she became pregnant during the shooting. She had a miscarriage while going home.
Despite the miscarriage, she was called for the shoot the next day. According to Smriti, her co-actors working with her had told producer Ekta Kapoor that the news of miscarriage was a lie. In response to this, Smriti went to Ekta the next day with the medical report. She told Ekta that if her fetus had survived, she would have brought it as proof.
Reached the top of politics because of this show
Due to this serial, Smriti got recognition and she capitalized on this recognition and joined politics. Today she is one of the most powerful ministers of the country. He had defeated even Rahul Gandhi from Amethi. Today she is looking after the Ministry of Women and Child Development in the Modi Cabinet. Apart from this, she is the first non-Muslim to get the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
