While talking to Madan Gauri, Shruti Haasan said, 'People always used to ask me questions about my father. This did not happen once or twice, but many times. I used to think that I am Shruti, I want my own identity. People used to look at me and say that she is Kamal Haasan's daughter. If someone had asked me, I would have said, no, my father is Dr. Ramachandran, which was the name of our dentist. My name is Pooja Ramachandran. I chose this name myself.
Shruti Haasan said, 'It was not just because my father is an actor or a famous person, but since childhood, I felt that he was different from everyone else. My sister and I were raised by very stubborn people, and it became our habit. When my parents separated, I moved to Mumbai. I never liked living here as Shruti. When there were posters of Papa everywhere, it was very difficult to be separated from his name. Today I feel that Shruti has no existence without Kamal Haasan.
