The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the house of Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty in the pornography case on Friday morning. After the house, Raj Kundra's office has also been raided.
Apart from this, about 15 places in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh are being searched. Through this, ED is detecting the circulation of pornography through mobile applications and other mediums.
How did the police reach Raj Kundra?
- In February 2021, police raided Madh Island and busted a porn racket. The name of TV actress Gehana Vashishtha came up in this case. Police came to know from Gehna about Umesh Kamat working in Raj Kundra's company Vihaan Enterprise.
- Umesh used to send all the videos to Raj Kundra's London-based brother-in-law Pradeep Bakshi through a sharing application. Pradeep used to upload all the videos on the app of company Kenrin. Umesh used to do this transfer from Raj's office only.
- According to the chargesheet, the account of 'Hotshot' app and two WhatsApp groups named 'Hotshot' Taken Down were detected from Umesh's mobile. The administrator of both these groups was also Raj.
- Regarding payment to people working on the content of 'Hotshot' and 'Boli Fame' app, payment from Google and Apple, user revenue among Raj and his company's IT head Ryan Tharp, Umesh, Pradeep Bakshi and other employees. There was chat in WhatsApp group, mails were sent. Income details etc. were stored.
- After getting all this, it was revealed that Raj was the mastermind of the entire racket, he used to upload obscene videos through Pradeep Bakshi and earn money in return.
Sherlyn, Poonam Pandey were also accused
Earlier, the High Court had also rejected the anticipatory bail plea of five other accused apart from Raj Kundra in this case. After the relief given to Kundra, other accused can also appeal to avoid arrest on the same basis. Actresses Poonam Pandey, Sherlyn Chopra and Gehana Vashishtha were also made accused in the case of making porn films. Raj Kundra was arrested in July. Raj Kundra's Hotshots app was accused of airing obscene and porn videos.
Arrests were made under these sections in July 2021
- IPC Section 292, 296 – Making and selling obscene material
- Section 420 – Betrayal, fraud
- Section 67, 67(A) of the Information Technology Act – posting and transmitting obscene material in electronic form
- Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, Section 2 (g) 3, 4, 6, 7 – Making, selling and broadcasting obscene films related to women.
Shilpa-Raj's property worth Rs 97 crore attached in money laundering case
Just a few months ago, the Enforcement Directorate has attached property worth Rs 97.79 crore of Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra. This includes Shilpa Shetty's Juhu flat and bungalow and equity shares registered in the name of Raj Kundra. The case relates to money laundering in the 2002 Bitcoin Ponzi scheme scam. ED had given this information through a post on X.
