SGPC member Gurcharan Singh Garewal, while talking to the media, informed that the film is full of controversies. Its lead actress Kangana Ranaut has been giving controversial statements for Punjab, Sikhs and farmers since the beginning. Nothing has been told about the contribution of Punjab and Akali Dal in ending the Emergency, but a wrong image of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has been presented.

After this, a letter has been sent by SGPC to Broadcast Minister Ashwani Vaishnav and Censor Board Chairperson Prasun Joshi. In which SGPC has demanded that the release of the film be stopped and its entire script be shared with SGPC. So that the sentiments of the Sikh community and their own about this film can be expressed.

Have demanded FIR against Kangana

Earlier, SGPC chief advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami had demanded an FIR against film actress Kangana Ranaut. Advocate Dhami issued a press release saying that Kangana Ranaut has often been deliberately saying things that provoke the sentiments of Sikhs. The government is protecting her instead of taking action against her. The government should register a case against Kangana Ranaut for provoking the religious sentiments of Sikhs through the film Emergency.

Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has also expressed strong objection to the film and has demanded a ban on its release.

MP Sarbjit Khalsa had raised the issue

This issue was first raised by Punjab's Faridkot MP Sarbjit Singh Khalsa on his social media accounts. Sarbjit Khalsa had demanded the Broadcast Ministry to stop the release of this film. It was only after he raised his objection that this issue came to the notice of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and SGPC.
