Sensex rises to record on exit polls; Sensex 76,738; Nifty rose by 23,338









Mumbai, Leading News Service : The stock market hit an all-time high ahead of the election results. The stock market jumped due to the conclusion that the BJP-NDA will get a clear majority in the exit polls. The Sensex touched a high of 76,738 and the Nifty touched a high of 23,338. Currently the Sensex is at 76,050 with a gain of over 2000 points. Nifty has gained more than 650 points. Nifty has touched the level of 23,200.

This is the biggest stretch of gains in the current year in the stock market. Earlier on January 29, the Sensex had gained 972 (1.76 percent) points. Shares of Adani Ports rose more than 8 percent on Monday. Importantly, the rupee has strengthened by 42 paise against the dollar. The rupee was at Rs 83 per dollar against the US dollar. It has reached Rs 83.42 per dollar on Monday.
