Senior CRPF officer sacked in sexual harassment case: Union Home Ministry orders









Leader Online Desk : A senior officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been issued a dismissal notice for allegedly sexually harassing women personnel. His name is Khajan Singh. He was working as a Chief Sports Officer of the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the CRPF, reported 'PTI'. Sources clarified that the final order will be issued after considering the reply received from the accused officer within 15 days.

Khajan Singh was accused of sexual harassment by female colleagues. The case was investigated by the CRPF. The inquiry report was submitted to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It recommended the dismissal of Khajan Singh. Now the Union Home Ministry has approved the dismissal recommendation.

Khajan Singh was serving as Chief Sports Officer of CRPF. He won a silver medal in the 200m butterfly event at the 1986 Asian Games. This was India's first medal in swimming since 1951. Meanwhile, Khajan Singh has not yet made any statement in this matter. He has been given 15 days to respond to the dismissal notice. There are two charges against him and a dismissal notice has been issued in one case. It is also said in the report of 'PTI' that the investigation of the second case is going on.

Earlier, Khajan Singh had claimed that all the allegations against him were baseless. He also said that this allegation was made to tarnish his image. The CRPF, which has about 3.25 lakh personnel, first inducted women into its combat ranks in 1986. The CRPF currently has six all-women battalions with a total strength of 8,000 personnel. Sports and other administrative branches also have women employees.
