Leader Online Desk: Jharkhand's Rural Development Minister and Congress leader Alamgir Alam along with his servant have been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Jharkhand today (7th) in connection with the seizure of Rs 35 crore cash. The ED had on Monday, May 6, seized Rs 35 crore in cash from Alam's personal assistant (PA) Sanjeev Lal and his domestic servant Jahangir Alam. This action has been taken as per the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
35 crore cash seized so far
ED raids a flat in Ranchi in connection with alleged irregularities in the state's rural development department. This flat belongs to Jehangir Alam, the servant of Minister Alam's PA Sanjeev Lal. ED seized Rs 32 crore from this flat. Cash worth Rs 3 crore has been seized by conducting raids at other places. A total of Rs 35 crore cash has been seized so far. Meanwhile, Minister Alam has claimed that he has nothing to do with the matter.
Real estate documents were also seized in the raid
The ED on Monday conducted raids at nine locations belonging to Sanjeev Lal and his servant Jehangir Alam, builder Munna Singh and people close to him. A large amount of cash was seized in this raid, and five note counting machines and bank staff were deployed for counting. ED has also seized real estate documents during raids.
