Actress Uma Dasgupta, who was seen in Satyajit Ray's film Pather Panchali, released in 1955, has died at the age of 84. The actress was fighting a battle with cancer for a long time. He breathed his last in Kolkata hospital.
Uma Dasgupta's death has been confirmed by her relative and actor Chiranjeet Chakraborty. The veteran actress, who was suffering from cancer, was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Kolkata for the last few days.
Trinamool Congress leader and Bengali writer Kunal Ghosh has paid tribute to Uma through a social media post. He has written in the Facebook post, Durga of Pather Panchali is now gone.
